Within this month, two big names - Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron should not have been missed. They have both been nominated for Best Director and their films for Best Picture at the 82nd Academy Awards, which Bigelow won. But do you know they had an intimate relationship?
Truly, Cameron and Bigelow were married for two years between 1989 and 1991, during which time Cameron released The Abyss (1989) and Terminator 2, and Bigelow Blue Steel (1989) and Point Break (1991). After their divorce, the pair maintained an amicable relationship and Cameron even wrote the screenplay for 1995 film Strange Days, which was directed by Bigelow.

Bigelow, now 58, was Cameron's third wife. They married for their sharing the same interest in art and film. They marriage life was a mystery, and I can hardly find a photo of their wedding or family photos. They had a short marriage life together with no kid of them. There is little news about Bigelow's personal life. Instead, Cameron is not that low-keyed. The 55-year-old director has married five times till now. With five wives to his name, his love life is almost as epic as one of his movies.
The two ex-spouses, both brilliant and talented were experiencing head-to-head battle for the top prizes. "A contest where former husband and wife are the frontrunners for the two big awards certainly adds some spice to the event," said Steve Pond, a long-time Hollywood observer, before the Golden Globe award. "It's Hollywood and people love intrigue and gossip."
Some people said that there appeared to be little animosity between the ex-couple. But in fact, the Avatar film-maker has proved magnanimous about his third wife's chances and greeted her victory with apparently genuine pleasure. After accepting the Golden Globe for best director earlier this year, Cameron said: "Frankly, I thought Kathryn was gonna get this. And she richly deserves it."

Cameron sat behind Bigelow at the ceremony in the Kodak theatre in Hollywood. He was one of the first to offer congratulations when he reached over to tap her on the shoulder.
In interviews after the big ceremony, Bigelow said "I think he is an extraordinary film-maker," resisting reporters' attempts to encourage her to crow about her victory over Cameron.
They are friends and have a friendly relationship. Moreover, they appreciate and help each other instead of hating or hurting. As I see, they set a good example. Let's wish them both to go further and achieve greater success.
