Abstract: Today, under the economic recession (although it is said that things are getting good now), it is still rather difficult to find a job. In the past decade, there were over 12 million workers who had been fired or let go from their former employers. So it is normal for you to find the fact: every vacancy has over 6 applicants fighting over it and anyone with a blemish in their former jobs can be left out.

That comes out the question: can we fake the references?
Some people hold the view that a bad reference is equal to a criminal record which prevents those job seekers from getting a new good job. Anyway, these job seekers just ask for a second chance, what's wrong with that?
While others believe that it is unethical for job seekers to lie about anything on their job application. "It puts those who have legitimate references at an unfair disadvantage," an opponent said "which is like enhancing your appearance while defacing other's look".
As for me, I think that we should not fake our references. All human beings make mistakes, but winners learn from the mistakes while losers try to cover them up, hiding them or keeping making the same mistakes over and over again. If you are not willing to right your mistakes, how can you get good result next time?

In addition, according to a survey conducted by an authority, over 65.7% employers said they didn't care much about the references of job seekers. What really matters was their performance in the new job. But if you fake your references, and the employer just finds that, then you will be in big trouble since you will be regarded as dishonest.
Back to the beginning, it is really sad for us to find that job seekers could do nothing but fake their references. Although these job seekers who fake references should be blamed, poor economy which leads to making desperate choices should also take responsibility.
And supposing that a candidate was previously turned down for lacking of reference, that honest person may decide to unethically stack the deck in his or her favor, rather normal, right?
So I, here, ask all applicants not to fake your references. And for employers, please don't discriminate against these job seekers whose references are not so good and give them a second chance.
