Following up help you stand out from amateurs. Amateurs don't do as pros. Well, how to follow like pros?

First, the best way to get the contact information of the interviewer is before you leave. You may ask or check his or her correctly spelled name and job title, email address and office address.

Second, send the interviewer the thank you mail for the interview the very evening, so that she or he can read it the next day.

Third, follow up after both in-person and phone interviews and everyone you met with as most as you can.

Fourth, make a follow-up phone call on the 5th day after the interview. Let her know that you are still interested in the job and ask if any further information is needed from you.

Five, hand write a thank-you card as soon as possible to state that your interest in the job and summarize you strength related to the job. Many hiring managers will think that this is definitely a professional manner and this is the kind of person we want. During a week, you switch from phone, email and snail mail until she says you got the job or someone else did.

Six, you should correct you wrong idea such as "I don't want to bother the interviewer, they are perhaps very busy". Actually, many companies deliberately wait applicants to follow up, which is a part of interview.

Last but not least, proofread all your mails or notes before sending. If you are not sure what to write, please refer the thank-you note sample:
